Panthers defense takes down Syracuse thanks to five interceptions

In a battle of 5-1 Syracuse at #19 6-0 Pittsburgh. We all were expecting a great game on a Thursday night, but instead we got a blowout. Thanks to the Pittsburgh defense, the Panthers move to 7-0 on the season and will have extra time to prepare for a Top 25 matchup in Fort Worth against SMU. While Syracuse lose their second game of the season and will play Virginia Tech in the Dome next weekend.

Game Summary:

Syracuse is coming on the road to one of the hottest teams in the country coming off a BYE week. Normally that would be good, but not in the case for the Orange. Pitt was coming off arguably their worst game of the season in their 17-15 win against California. So they were looking for a much better performance in tonight's game against Syracuse.

To start the game off, Pittsburgh's defense picked off Kyle McCord three times in the first quarter, two of the three led were took back for touchdowns. The other interception was converted with a field goal. The Orange had an early 17-0 deficit. Not much went better in the second quarter for Syracuse, another pick six by McCord and a touchdown pass for Eli Holstein gave Pittsburgh a 31-0 lead at halftime.

Syracuse showed signs of life coming out of the half. Their first drive of the half ended with a touchdown run by Kyle McCord. Still a 25-point deficit at the end of the day. The Orange defense made the Panthers offense punt and then McCord threw his fifth interception of the game. After that, Pittsburgh would score off the turnover. Syracuse would end up scoring one more touchdown but it was way to late for a comeback and the game ends 41-13 in favor of the #19 Pittsburgh Panthers.
