FSU FOOTBALL IS APPROACHING
Can you believe it? We are now nine days away from Florida State’s 2022 season opener against the Duquesne Dukes on Saturday, August 27th.
In honor of it being only nine days remaining until FSU football, I want to highlight a certain player on the current football team who wears No. 9 and has been showcasing his ability: Redshirt sophomore running back Lawrance Toafili.
TWINKLE TOAFILI
Head coach Mike Norvell shared some glowing remarks about the talented back in a recent media session this week: “One guy that I definitely want to mention is Lawrance Toafili. I think he has had an incredible camp. He might be our most improved player on the roster. I’m really excited about the steps that he has taken in his game. I love all aspects from what I’m seeing in his development. He had a really good scrimmage the other night.”
With the unfortunate news of redshirt freshman running back CJ Campbell (who was a preferred walk-on that was supposed to be a contributor on special teams) suffering a season-ending injury during the scrimmage, the running back position will have to stay healthy this season with the depth at the position.
During the 2021 season, Toafili had 279 total yards and three touchdowns. He made his mark in the matchup against the Clemson Tigers where he amassed 92 total yards and one touchdown. The former four-star prospect has struggled to find consistency during his time in Tallahassee.
Will he make his mark during the 2022 season?
