ODELL AND JP STRIKE AGAIN
Florida State received great news on Thursday afternoon as Class of 2023 three-star defensive lineman Tavion Gadson from Jenkins High School in Savannah, Georgia commits to the Seminoles. The talented defender chose Florida State over schools such as Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Minnesota.
Even though Gadson was offered by the Seminoles later in his recruiting process on March 13, 2022, that did not stop him from coming to campus on multiple occasions to get himself acclimated to Tallahassee. Since being offered by FSU, he visited their campus three times (more than any other school involved with his recruitment).
It seemed as though defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins and defensive end coach John Papuchis had sealed the deal on landing his services.
JUST WHAT THE NOLES NEEDED
The 6-foot-4, 280 pound defensive lineman had a solid junior season where he collected 60 tackles (25 tackles for loss), nine sacks and three forced fumbles.
The coaching staff placed an emphasis on acquiring defensive linemen in the 2023 class after they obtained verbal commitments from four-star Keldric Faulk, four-star Keith Sampson Jr., four-star Lamont Green Jr., unranked JUCO Jaden Jones.
With Gadson committed, the Seminoles will now be able to have the luxury of utilizing his versatility as a defensive end or sliding him inside to defensive tackle.
Player Comparison: Dennis Briggs Jr.
WHERE DOES #TRIBE23 RANK?
With the Savannah (Ga.) native in the fold, the Seminoles now rank No. 28 in the 2023 247Sports Composite rankings.
