Florida State’s Azareye’h Thomas is one of the more intriguing defensive back prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. He offers a rare blend of size, athleticism, and versatility. At 6’2", Thomas possesses the prototypical length that NFL scouts covet in modern cornerbacks. While still developing his technique, his natural ball skills, fluid hips, and willingness to tackle make him a player with a significant upside.

Physical Tools & Versatility

  • Size & Length – His 6’2" frame allows him to match up well with bigger receivers and disrupt passing lanes.

  • Ball Skills & Instincts – Coming from an offensive background, his ability to track the ball in the air is evident.

  • Positional Flexibility – Has taken snaps at boundary and slot corner, as well as at safety, showing the potential to transition to multiple roles.

  • Willing Tackler – Doesn’t shy away from contact and has the physicality to hold up in the run game.

College Production & Performance

  • Three-Year Starter at FSU:

    • 65 solo tackles

    • 15 pass deflections

    • 2 interceptions

    • 1 forced fumble

  • Strong Zone Coverage Skills: Thrives when reading the quarterback and reacting to the play.

Areas for Growth

  • Raw Man Coverage Technique – Needs to refine his press skills and utilize his length to disrupt routes better.

  • Limited CB Experience – Has shown flashes but will require significant reps to polish his skill set.

  • Ideal Position Still in Question – While listed as a CB, his instincts and physicality suggest he could have an All-Pro ceiling as a safety.

Final Thoughts

Azareye’h Thomas may be a project at the cornerback position, but his physical tools, natural athleticism, and positional versatility make him an exciting prospect. If he can refine his press technique and grow into his frame, he can potentially become one of the most impactful defensive backs from this draft class. Whether at corner or transitioning to safety, his best football is still ahead of him.
